Dayton Residence
Renovations & Additions

floorplans

This was a multi-faceted project. The client wanted to have the master suite on the same floor as their children’s bedrooms which meant that they needed to build an addition to the second floor. A new bath, his and her dressing rooms, the master bedroom and a deck on the roof of the addition were built. The client also wanted to restructure the back entry to their home to be a more functional and to have an open layout for family interaction. The back entrance opens into a mud room with custom designed cabinetry of “cubbies” for each family member, a desk, and a wine glass storage cabinet. Adjacent to the mud room is an expanded family room that is open to the kitchen. The powder room door was relocated off the hall verses off the kitchen for privacy.

The staircase was previously industrial style metal with carpeting. A new wooden handrail and exposed wooden treads and risers were designed. The third floor which was previously the master suite, is now a media room, children’s study area and library with a new 225 square foot roof deck.
